Tom Davies
Tom Davies (b 1990) is a painter from South London. His work is based on the environment, in the city he grew up in as well as the English countryside - its colours, forms, and light. Tom's paintings attempt to describe specific experiences and memories of nature - an interpretation of what is seen, remembered, and felt about our landscape and environment.
The paintings on display in this exhibition are based on the maintenance of trees and forests. Arborists make markings on tree trunks which indicate what type of work needs to be done to preserve, care for or protect each specific tree. These brightly coloured markings can be seen in woodlands, parks, and forests, in the countryside, as well as cities, across Britain.
